Straupe Castle II

This place is like folklore. They say - if you drink too much, you will end up in Straupe. Seems like a nice place, but in this building there is a nacological hospital.

In my opinion, it is not the best place for a hospital. It is not built for that purpose and there could be more useful ways to use this medieval castle. But we have a tradition of bad our heritage managing. We burned down one of our most beautiful castles in Cesvaine some years ago and we have more similar cases like that. At least we don’t use churches as warehouses anymore, like it was in Soviet time…

ABOUT THE SITE

This site is a collection of my photos from Latvia. During the winter there are less updates because the weather is often terrible. But the time from May till October is very good for going out and taking photos.
