Bīriņi Castle II
Another photo from yesterday’s trip to Bīriņi Castle. Near the castle I found this fallen bird house which was almost asking to put in the composition with the main building of the castle.
Bīriņi Castle
From the homepage of Bīriņi Castle: Today Birini Castle is owned and operated privately as a family enterprise and along with its hotel and baths, serves as a hospitality center for all manner of events including banquets, weddings, formal balls, seminars, excursions and anniversary parties.
And from myself: The castle restaurant is excellent. Great service and delicious food! Thanks!

Happy Easter
Happy Easter everyone!
Like in many other places, also here religious festivals are mixed with pagan ones. In the morning people go to churches to celebrate the ressurection of Jesus, but after that they celebrate begining of spring the way their ancestors did - with swinging, egg rolling, telling their children about rabbits bringing eggs etc.
Have fun everybody!

Village
Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum is a collection of old houses many centuries old. Houses are the real ones brought to the museum from their real locations to be preserved for the next generations. This in the photo is a part of Kurzeme farmstead.
