Something funny today for the New Year’s Eve. Near the Jomas Street in Jurmala there is some small amusement park with this funny carousel for kids. Of course, it doesn’t work now in the winter time.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope to hear from you in 2008!

This year was the 20th anniversary since Jomas Street was opened for pedestrians only. Thas was in summer, they also had a celebration to mark this fact. Now in winter the street is not very crowded at all.

Jomas Street is the main pedestrian street in Jurmala with many restaurants and other entertainment. I captured this homeless cat sitting on the window of some shop decorated for Christmas.

In the next few days something more from Jomas Street in Jurmala.

Mirror And A Girl

This is taken near the old Ģertrūdes church in Riga. The rather old wooden house is put inside glass walls making reflections. On this gray day what catched my attention was this advertisment which stood out of this depressing weather.

I just added a functionality that will allow you to locate the picture on the map, in case you liked it and would like to check it out yourself. In the last two posts you can find a link [Picture Location]. If you click on it, you will get a Google Map where the place will be located. Of course, you have to allow popups on this site! Enjoy!

Countryhouse

This kind of house would be normal in countryside, but this one is in Riga near its border, near newly build apartament-houses. I guess this house has something to do with the nearby Biķeri church I was posting about yesterday, but I could easily be wrong.

Anyway, I can’t imagine how it is inside there when outside is -30 degrees Celsius…

Biķeri Church

Biķeri Church is in my opinion one of the most romantic churches around Riga. It was built in 1766. Johann Gottfried Herder was serving as a pastor in this church during 1766 - 1769.

Yes, and we have a little bit of snow here. Very little bit.

Another nice place in Ādaži - hotel Eufrosine. 100 years ago Eufrosine was one of the most famous and modern sailing ship built in Latvia. That’s why they have made this sailing ship outside the hotel. Looks really good!
